The skin around the eyes is usually one of the first places to show signs of ageing, stress and other skin problems. Here, we will cover commonly asked questions about eye skincare, good eye care habits and our professional recommendations.
FAQ about Eye Care:
Where should I apply my eye care product?
They have been specifically designed for the eye contour area. Can apply the product up to the lower lash line, in the grooves of crow’s feet and under to eyebrow to have a lifting effect. All other retail products, including serums & masks, need to be applied up to the bony areas of the eye socket.
How should I apply my eye care product?
You can apply a small pea size amount of the product in a gentle tapping movement around the eye contour area – up to the lower lash and just under the eyebrow, over the orbital bone. Use your middle finger with a gentle patter working outwards towards the temples.
Aren’t eye creams just more-expensive moisturizers in a smaller package?
The skin around the eyes are thinner and specialised products for the eye area will spread up and around the eye to where they are needed. Eye creams tend to have a lighter texture and is more easily absorbed by the skin. They also contain active ingredients aimed at the problems we see around the eye area.
The skin around the eyes is more fragile, more prone to dryness, and quicker to show signs of aging and fatigue. Squinting and constant movement of the eyes also accelerate the appearance of lines and wrinkles, and fluids collect under the eyes and cause puffiness and dark circles. Eye creams are specially formulated to target these common concerns.
Why should eye care products not be applied on top of the eyelid?
The eyelids are fragile, and the skin is thinner than the rest of the face. The skin on the eyelids is the thinnest skin in the body and more prone to sensitivity. The eyelids also contain fewer oil glands. You should not apply products to the eyelids because it can run into your eyes and cause irritation, puffiness and redness.
