How to take care of wrinkled skin

How to take care of wrinkled skin

Ah wrinkles, they seem to appear overnight. One moment you are wrinkle free and the next they seem to pop up out of nowhere.

Usually around the age of 40, women notice a loss of skin firmness and tone. This then often leads to desperation in achieving fast and drastic results, and quick fixes or extreme treatments become an obsession. But the skin is a protective organ. It has its own intelligence, so any extreme treatment or superficial quick fix just won’t give lasting or comprehensive results.

When it comes to wrinkles, the key is collagen – this includes anything that can support, activate and protect the skin’s collagen. This is because collagen contributes to 70% of the skin’s structure. Collagen gives the skin firmness, volume and plays such an important role in the skin’s moisturizing processes. It is by far the most important structure of the skin. However, at the young age of 25 we already start to lose collagen gradually. By 35, the rate at which the skin loses collagen starts to exceed the rate at which collagen synthesis takes place and then, the various signs of aging seem to appear overnight.

First, you might notice small fine lines. Then fine lines are accompanied by wrinkles. As you grow older, a variety of different wrinkles appear. Horizontal lines on your forehead becomes deeper and deeper. Criss cross wrinkles appear on your cheeks. By the time we reach menopause, the aging seemed to have multiplied, and a quick fix won’t have the result you wish to see.

Wrinkle formation is a progressive and complex process. There is not one single factor that leads to the formation of wrinkles. Several biological processes, environmental, lifestyle and genetic factors play a role. While we cannot stop the aging process or change our genetic background, we can do something about the aggressive environmental factors that we are exposed to on a daily basis. We can make lifestyle choices that will support your skin (and our overall health) and slow down development of signs of aging.

So, what can you do about your winkles?

Like I have mentioned above, there is no quick fix or one magical answer that will get rid of your wrinkles overnight. Likewise, there is no one secret to stop the aging process either. We need to look at and respect the skin as an organ that forms part of our body as a whole. For example, there is no point in investing money in your skin care routine if the overall health is ignored.

Like Dr Erich Schulte’s famous quote goes:

“logic not miracles”

Based on this logic, here are my advice for tackling wrinkles:

  1. Stimulate your cell metabolism and circulation with exercise. No cell in the body – including the cells in the deeper dermal layers that make collagen – can live without oxygen. And as you age, oxygen supply to your skin gets less and less. Up to 50% of blood circulation to the skin can be lost over the age of 50. So, get the blood pumping. You will notice an instant glow on your skin and your whole body will love you for it! Remember to stay hydrated too.
  1. Nourish your skin from within. Nutricosmetics is a wonderful way to supplement your skin when life gets too busy to eat well. We all strive to eat well but let’s face it – in the real world we sometimes get too busy to cook. Often, we are just not in the mood to eat what we know we should eat. Although supplements do not replace a balanced diet, they can contribute to preventing and reversing wrinkles. With nutricosmetics, beneficial ingredients can be delivered via the blood circulation to deep layers of the skin where topical products cannot reach.
  2. Protect your skin from the sun and the environment. In South Africa, this is an absolute must. Spending your money on expensive serums and treatments without sun protection is yet another example of “expecting a miracle”. The sun is the number one accelerator of skin aging. Invest in an advanced sun protection product and be consistent your application of it. Indoors or outdoors, winter or summer; make sure this is a priority in your homecare routine. Luckily, with both Team Dr Joseph and QMS sun protection product, wrinkle formation is targeted at a cellular level. They are non-greasy and applies easily with no oily shine or irritating ingredients.

Lines of our Lives

Laugh lines, worry lines, crow’s feet…
No matter what you call them, we all know them as WRINKLES!

We spend our lives warding off wrinkles, but the bottom line is that we are all going to experience wrinkles at some point in our lives. It is a natural part of aging. There are some who embrace their laugh lines and eye crinkles; but want to iron out their worry lines. Although we can’t map out where wrinkles might appear; we can change the story that they tell and fend off unwelcome wrinkles.

Unravelling Wrinkles

Types of wrinkles:

  • Forehead lines: run horizontally across the top of the T-zone.
  • Worry lines: create an “eleven” between the brows.
  • Bunnies: across the bridge of the nose horizontally between the eyes.
  • Crow’s feet: radiate from the outer corners of the eyes.
  • Laugh lines: also called nasolabial folds, create parenthesis around the upper lip.
  • Lip lines: form vertical hatches around the perimeter of the mouth.
  • Marionette lines: frame the chin vertically, and as the cheeks droop, jowl wrinkles form.

Three categories of wrinkles:

Dynamic wrinkles. These develop from repeated facial movements. The most common locations for dynamic wrinkles are between the eyebrows, forehead wrinkles, and on the cheeks near the outer corners of the eyes, referred to as ‘crow’s feet’.

Static wrinkles. Static wrinkles are caused by damage to the skin from sun, smoking, genetics, poor nutrition, or from prolonged dynamic wrinkling.

Wrinkle folds: These result from a loss of elasticity and the takeover of gravity. Identified by vertical lines.

How to fend off the folds:

Protect and repair

Arm yourself with a sun cream to protect against harmful UV rays and oxidative stress. Our Cellular Sun Shield SPF50 PA++++ provides sun protection with balanced UVA/UVB defence and innovative DNA-repair complex to protect against premature aging and sun induced pigmentation. It has been tested in extreme locations (mountains and tropics) and is safe for all skin types and conditions.

Make healthy lifestyle choices

Eat a healthy diet; Reduce sugar intake; Stay hydrated; Lower alcohol consumption; Don’t smoke; Exercise; Rest up; Reduce stress.

Choose products by wrinkle category

‘Botox-like’ effect products for dynamic wrinkles:

Protect the skin from within

Pigmentation

Hyperpigmentation is probably the number one skin concern of many South African’s today. It affects all skin types But, with this skin condition, there is no quick fix or easy answers. The reason for this is that there exists more than one type of pigmentation, each one influenced and caused by many factors.

In this blog, I aim to educate you about some major types of pigmentation and provide you with realistic and honest advice on how to achieve true, long lasting results. I am writing this from my own personal experience as this is my major skin priority and one that I have spent many years trying to understand. I am happy to report that I have seen the most remarkable results using QMS for my pigmentation!

The most honest advice I can give anyone today is that pigmentation is manageable but not curable. Although you will most likely not get rid of your problem 100%, the good news is that pigmentation is treatable, and with the right advice in homecare, professional treatments and – very importantly – lifestyle choices, you will see successful results long term.

Figuring out your major form of pigmentation

  1. Post Inflammatory Hyperpigmentation

Simply put, this is a darkening of the skin following inflammation or trauma. Skin’s with a naturally darker pigment might find that after an acne breakout, (you know, those annoying pimples caused by stress or hormones), often leave a pigmented scar after healing has occurred. The skin is a protective organ. If it has experienced trauma and it knows that it has strength in its pigment, it will activate the melanocytes and melanin synthesis will be increased. Combine this with the sunny South African weather and what you get is pigmentation.

Another example is the development of pigmentation in men who shave regularly. If the shaving is aggressive or any irritation is experienced afterwards, he may develop pigmentation.

Also, take caution if you have a darker skin when you consider active aesthetic treatments such as laser and peels. Your post treatment care is where the success lies. Less is more. Protection and repair with high quality topical anti-inflammatories are extremely important as this will prevent inflammations turn into pigmentation.

If this is your major type of pigmentation, look at Collagen Intravital Plus. Boost your skin’s immunity with anti-inflammatories, antioxidants and multiple vitamins and minerals. Drink 2 capsules daily and target both inflammation and hyperpigmentation. Active Exfoliant Resurfacing Fluid 7% is a gentle AHA peeling that will help you on so many levels. It is a must-have for all forms of pigmentation.

  2. Sun damage and sun spots

Fair skins in South Africa are most at risk for developing sun spots – also known as age spots. Progressive development often occurs over the age of 40. But we tend to see this at a younger age in our country.

Clients who develop these spots will often comment and say: “but I am never outdoors and I always use a sunscreen”. The truth is continuous exposure to UV rays throughout life causes damage to our skin’s memory – the cellular DNA. And, most of us have had sun burn at some point in our lives. Your skin remembers this in its DNA.

When we are young, we have all the necessary enzymes and repair processes in our skins that can counteract the UV damage. But, as you age, these processes are negatively affected, and skin damage appear.

If this is your major form of pigmentation, use Cellular Sun Shield SPF50++++. Not only is this a superior protection against the full light spectrum, but it contains a DNA repair enzyme to boost your skin’s defence mechanisms against UV rays. It will even out pigmentation and boost the skin’s immune system.

Epigen Daily Detox Serum which incorporates latest scientific research into epigenetics and how the environment affects our DNA, can effectively strengthen the skin against environmental factors and target deep seated sun damage.

  3. Hormonal pigmentation

This is almost always the trickiest form of pigmentation to treat as the major culprit is from hormonal origin.

All women are subject to develop hormonal pigmentation during pregnancy and with the use of contraceptive medication. It is true that some are more prone to developing this while others will not. The hormones influence the skin by making it more sensitive to UV rays. Once exposed to UV rays, the melanocytes are activated to produce increased amounts of melanin. Unfortunately, in an uneven and irregular fashion. If possible, stop or change the form of contraception. And in the case where this is not possible, the focus needs to be on strengthening and protecting the skin.

I would recommend a product containing tyrosinase inhibitors. Tyrosinase is an enzyme that activates the melanocyte to produce melanin when exposed to UV rays. A tyrosinase inhibitor will intercept this process and thereby reducing the synthesis of melanin, improving the appearance of hyperpigmentation. Even Tone Serum contains highly concentrated tyrosinase inhibitors that at the same time, strengthen the skin’s protective functions.

Use the Cellular Sun Shield SPF50++++ as this too increase the skin’s immune system and contributes to even pigment production. And lastly, Collagen Intravital Plus will prevent the pigmentation from settling in the deep layers while also complimenting any topical treatment.

What do I need to do to achieve real results?

If hyperpigmentation is your major skin concern, and you want to see long term results that last, there are two very important points I would like to highlight. These factors will play a role no matter what you choose to treat your pigmentation with. It is because the skin condition that is hyperpigmentation requires this, not the ingredients or the brands, but the skin itself. They are:

  • Commitment

This means accepting personal responsibility to do what is necessary to achieve these results. You need to commit to this for the long run. This means also accepting that quick fixes are out of the question. And if you are in this for the long haul, you will have to look at committing to the lifestyle choices that only you can make too. A few examples that come to mind: Committing to use the home care products, every day; Arriving for your professional treatments; Not spending time outdoors without sun protection; Looking at factors that affect your skin in general; and sticking to your routine by being disciplined.

As a professional skin care advisor, I can tell you what to do, I can do your treatments successfully however, only you can ensure that consistency takes priority. Only you have the power in making informed decisions in your every-day life. You might be spending the money and expecting results, but only with consistency and comprehensive focus will one achieve the desired results.

  • Investment

Treating pigmentation is a long-term investment. There is no way around this fact. This is relevant no matter what treatment choice you go for; or what brand you select to use. You will be required to invest in highly concentrated products and maintain this over a period of time. You will simply waste your money if you buy on price rather than value. Or worse, spend money on treatments and gaining no results if they are not complimented with the correct and relevant home care products. I like to look at this this way: If you go for a professional treatment of 1 hour once a month, you are doing 12 hours of treatment in a year. It is simply not realistic to expect results with 12 hours of treatment a year! On the other hand, if you invest in a 1 hour treatment every month and then back it up by using active products every day, you are then complimenting your professional investment and continuously treating our skin 365 days a year. This is what delivers realistic results and prevent you from wasting your time and money.

This does not mean that you have to buy all the products at once. You can only stick to it if what you are using is also sustainable. Don’t feel overwhelmed. Speak to a professional and let them advise you according to your budget and lifestyle.

In addition to this, make sure you use products and treatments of the same brand. Looking at ingredients alone will not deliver the best results. Synergy of products are of utmost importance and this is often overlooked (or underestimated).

I Spy, with unwrinkled Eyes…

The skin around the eyes is usually one of the first places to show signs of ageing, stress and other skin problems. Here, we will cover commonly asked questions about eye skincare, good eye care habits and our professional recommendations.

FAQ about Eye Care:

Where should I apply my eye care product?

They have been specifically designed for the eye contour area. Can apply the product up to the lower lash line, in the grooves of crow’s feet and under to eyebrow to have a lifting effect. All other retail products, including serums & masks, need to be applied up to the bony areas of the eye socket.

How should I apply my eye care product?

You can apply a small pea size amount of the product in a gentle tapping movement around the eye contour area – up to the lower lash and just under the eyebrow, over the orbital bone. Use your middle finger with a gentle patter working outwards towards the temples.

Aren’t eye creams just more-expensive moisturizers in a smaller package?

The skin around the eyes are thinner and specialised products for the eye area will spread up and around the eye to where they are needed. Eye creams tend to have a lighter texture and is more easily absorbed by the skin. They also contain active ingredients aimed at the problems we see around the eye area.

The skin around the eyes is more fragile, more prone to dryness, and quicker to show signs of aging and fatigue. Squinting and constant movement of the eyes also accelerate the appearance of lines and wrinkles, and fluids collect under the eyes and cause puffiness and dark circles. Eye creams are specially formulated to target these common concerns.

Why should eye care products not be applied on top of the eyelid?

The eyelids are fragile, and the skin is thinner than the rest of the face. The skin on the eyelids is the thinnest skin in the body and more prone to sensitivity. The eyelids also contain fewer oil glands. You should not apply products to the eyelids because it can run into your eyes and cause irritation, puffiness and redness.

What type of skin do I have?

There is no single factor that causes acne. Acne develops when the sebaceous (oil) glands are activated during puberty or due to other changes in hormone levels. Acne is most common among adolescents but affects people of all ages.

Sebum (oil) is a natural liquid, lubricating material that protects the skin. Acne is a condition that occurs when your follicles become plugged with oil and dead skin cells. This results in inflammation and bacterial infestation of P. Acnes. Acne often causes whiteheads, blackheads and pimples, which typically occurs on the face, chest, upper back and shoulder. Signs and symptoms of acne differ according to the severity of the condition.

Acne treatments work by reducing the production of oil, fighting bacterial infection and reducing inflammation to help prevent scarring. Search for power terms on goods such as antibacterial, germicidal, healing, repairing, protecting and mattifying on products.

10 Easy Ways to Boost your Metabolism

If you are out of SKINNY Green Tea or Coffee and are worried that your metabolism is going to hit rock bottom during the rest of lockdown, here are some helpful tips to keep you fired up.

The term metabolism describes all the chemical reactions in your body that keep you alive and functioning.

The higher your metabolism or metabolic rate, the more calories you burn and the easier it is to lose weight and keep it off.

Having a high metabolism can also give you energy and make you feel better.

Here are 10 easy ways to increase your metabolism (besides using SKINNY Green products of course!).

Eat Plenty of Protein at Every Meal

The increase in your metabolism after eating is called the thermic effect of food (TEF). It’s caused by the extra calories required to digest, absorb and process the nutrients in your meal.

Protein causes the largest rise in TEF. It increases your metabolic rate substantially more than carbs and fats. Eating protein has also been shown to help you feel more full and prevent you from overeating.

Eating more protein can also reduce the drop in metabolism often associated with losing fat. This is because it reduces muscle loss, which is a common side effect of dieting.

Drink More Cold Water

Drinking water may temporarily speed up your metabolism. Studies have shown that drinking half a litre of water increases resting metabolism by 10–30% for about an hour.

This calorie-burning effect may be even greater if you drink cold water, as your body uses energy to heat it up to body temperature.

Water can also help fill you up. Drinking water a half an hour before you eat can help you eat less.

Do a High-Intensity Workout

High-intensity interval training (HIIT) involves quick and very intense bursts of activity. It can help you burn more fat by increasing your metabolic rate, even after your workout has finished.

Lift Heavy Things

Muscle is more metabolically active than fat, and building muscle can help increase your metabolism. This means you will burn more calories each day, even at rest.

Lifting weights will also help you retain muscle and combat the drop in metabolism that can occur during weight loss.

In one study, 48 overweight women were placed on a diet of 800 calories per day, along with either no exercise, aerobic exercise or resistance training. After the diet, the women who did the resistance training maintained their muscle mass, metabolism and strength. The others lost weight, but also lost muscle mass and experienced a decrease in metabolism.

Stand up More

Sitting too much is bad for your health! This is obviously partly because long periods of sitting burns fewer calories and can lead to weight gain. In fact, compared to sitting, an afternoon of standing up at work can burn an extra 174 calories!

If you have a desk job, try standing up for short periods to break up the length of time you spend sitting down.

Drink Green Tea (or coffee)

Green tea has been shown to increase metabolism. It helps convert some of the fat stored in your body into free fatty acids, which may increase fat burning by 10–17%!

It’s thought that green tea’s metabolism-boosting properties may help prevent the dreaded weight loss plateau that occurs due to a decrease in metabolism.

You can find SKINNY Green products online after lockdown.

Eat Spicy Foods

Peppers contain capsaicin, a substance that can boost your metabolism.

One study of capsaicin, at acceptable doses, predicted that eating peppers would burn around 10 additional calories per meal.

Alone, the effects of adding spices to your food may be quite small. However, it may lead to a slight advantage when combined with other metabolism-boosting strategies.

Get a Good Night’s Sleep

Lack of sleep is linked to a major increase in the risk of obesity – partly caused by the negative effects of sleep deprivation on metabolism.

Lack of sleep has also been linked to increased blood sugar levels and insulin resistance, which are both linked to a higher risk of developing type 2 diabetes. Sleep deprivation also boosts the hunger hormone ghrelin and decreases the fullness hormone leptin.

This could explain why many people who are sleep-deprived feel hungry and struggle to lose weight.

Drink Coffee

Studies have shown that the caffeine in coffee can boost metabolism. Like green tea, it also promotes fat burning.

However, this seems to affect lean people more. In one study, coffee increased fat burning by 29% for lean women, but only 10% for obese women.

Coffee’s effects on metabolism and fat burning may also contribute to successful weight loss and maintenance.

SKINNY Green Coffee also suppresses your appetite and gives you an energy boost.

Replace Cooking Fats With Coconut Oil

Unlike other saturated fats, coconut oil is relatively high in medium-chain fats. Medium-chain fats can increase your metabolism more than the long-chain fats found in foods like butter.

Due to the unique fatty acid profile of coconut oil, replacing some of your other cooking fats with it may have benefits for weight loss and an increase in metabolism.

So, don’t just sit there , make some of these small lifestyle changes and incorporate these tips into your daily routine to increase your metabolism and in turn help you lose weight and keep it off!

Caring for Dehydrated Skin

Dehydrated skin, the most common everyday concern experienced by many as the aging process unfolds. It is a topic which comes back again and again as people are looking for answers to alleviate the discomfort dehydration creates.

So why does the skin get dehydrated and what are main the factors that play a role?

Did you know that collagen plays a role in 60% of the skin’s moisturizing processes?

Unfortunately, from the age of 25 we start to lose collagen which then gradually diminishes as the aging process progresses. This affects the quantity and quality of the skin’s collagen. Let’s use the analogy of grapes and raisins. Think of a young skin filled with juicy, firm grapes. As the aging process unfolds, these grapes gradually turn into raisins. They lose their firmness, store less water and become soft and wrinkly. Now, we cannot pour water over a raisin and expect it to become a firm grape again And the same applies for our skin collagen. No matter how much water you drink, if the collagen is of a bad quality, the skin cannot retain water and you will notice this in the skin’s radiance – or lack thereof. Fine lines will appear and, skin tightness is ever present.

But how do we protect quality and quantity of collagen if we cannot stop the aging process? This brings me to my second point…

Protection against the sun and the environment…

Biological aging cannot be stopped. Not for anyone. But we can protect ourselves against those factors that accelerate and aggravate dehydration.

Imagine that you have a bunch of fresh grapes which you don’t get the chance to eat. If they continue to lie in the fruit basket, eventually they will start to resemble a raisin. Now, if we leave those grapes outside in the sun, they will become raisins in record time.

Protecting your skin against the sun is an absolute top priority for South Africans as we are lucky (or unlucky) to have sunshine all year round affecting the quality of our skin’s collagen.

In addition to the negative effects of the sun, there are microscopic particles from pollution that causes damage our cells and further aggravate dryness. Airconditioning is well known to encourage loss of moisture from the skin. People who spend their time in an airconditioned environment often complain about skin tightness and dullness.

Therefore, products that are highly concentrated with superior antioxidants protect your skin cells and keep the collagen in your skin of a high quality.

Invest in a deeply moisturizing facial mask…

Masks are often underestimated and under used. They provide your skin with an instant boost and they often have more than one benefit. For example, in addition to the hydration you want, the right mask can bring major anti-aging results, decongest the skin from impurities and energize tired skins. On top of that, they can save you time and money when you don’t have a chance to go for a facial.

And, last but not least, upgrade your cleansing and toning routine.

It is simple and often the most affordable way to boost the skin’s moisture content. Harsh cleansers may strip the skin of the valuable protective oils. As you go about your day, the skin then has a diminished protection and you lose moisture from the skin.

Since there are so many different product options on the market, I would strongly advise you speak to a skin care professional to make sure you are spending your money on the right products for you. Get in touch with us at info@futurethis.co.za so that we can refer you to a knowledgeable and passionate therapist who you can trust.

In the meantime, these products are suitable for all skin types and will definitely give radiance, suppleness and get rid of those unwanted lines!

Zap those Zits For Good

What is acne? Why do you have it? What are the best ways to avoid it and get your glowing skin back? Our RITES skincare expert, Liza-Marie has the answers right here for you.

What is acne?

No one factor causes acne. Acne occurs when the sebaceous (oil) glands are stimulated at the time of puberty or due to other hormonal changes. Acne is most common among teenagers, though it affects people of all ages. Sebum (oil) is a natural substance that lubricates and protects the skin. Acne is a condition that occurs when your follicles become plugged with oil and dead skin cells. This leads to inflammation and bacterial infestation of P. Acnes. It often causes whiteheads, blackheads and pimples, and usually appears on the face, chest, upper back and shoulder. Acne signs and symptoms vary depending on the severity of the condition.

Acne treatments work by reducing oil production, fighting bacterial infection and reducing inflammation to help prevent scarring. Look out for power words such as antibacterial, germicidal, healing, repairing, protecting and mattifying on products.

Our Rites Skin Solution range was formulated in mind for teenagers and the younger generation; however, it is safe to use by everyone – all skin types! Get Your heart Pumping – Cardio Home Workout Ideas

Cardio doesn’t necessarily mean running or skipping only. Here are a few other great heart-pumping exercises if you need a bit of variation while working out from home.

To get an energy boost, pre and post workout, grab your SKINNY Green Tea or Coffee.

Cardio is one of the easiest and most convenient forms of exercise that you can do from home – without equipment and is also great for your overall physical and mental health. Cardio boosts mood and brain function and improves your heart health by pumping blood around the body more efficiently.

Here are some great cardio bodyweight exercises that will get your blood flowing and your serotonin levels soaring, thanks to www.sweat.com.

Burpees
Burpees are a great cardio exercise to do at home: they don’t require equipment, they get your heart rate up quickly, and they work your legs, abs, and arms at the same time. All you will need to do burpees is enough space for a yoga mat.

Jump squats
Jump squats are a plyometric version of a standard bodyweight squat. This aerobic exercise will get your heart rate up and have you breathless. They work your legs and core, and unlike burpees, you won’t require too much room to do these: just enough space above you to jump and land safely.

High knees
High knees are another high intensity cardio exercise. The aim here should be keeping your heart rate up, and keeping a consistent pace. Ensure that you land lightly on your feet with a soft bend in the knee to increase your control throughout the movement and soften the impact on your knees, hips and ankles.

Jump lunge
A jump lunge is the plyometric version of a regular lunge, which means you’ll be ‘jumping’ as you move your legs. Jump lunges work your legs — as your muscles work to jump and land (accelerate and decelerate against gravity) you develop power in the muscle. When jumping explosively, ensure you maintain a strong core and try to keep your balance as you alternate between each leg.

Tuck jumps
Tuck jumps are an advanced plyometric (jumping) exercise. In this exercise, you will be tucking your knees up to your chest as you jump. These may be somewhat challenging for those new to high intensity cardio, or if you have weak joints.

Jumping jacks
Jumping jacks are a great full body aerobic exercise. You’ll require enough space to spread your arms and legs out wide.

Mountain climbers
Mountain climbers are a whole body movement that not only increase your heart rate, but strengthen your shoulders, arms and core, too. It’s recommended that you use a yoga mat with this exercise.

Butt kicks
Butt kicks are another excellent leg exercise that will improve your coordination. If you’re new to doing cardio exercises at home, this is a great exercise to try because it’s pretty easy to get started. You don’t need much space, and you can step lightly or use a mat to keep to soften the sound of your feet hitting the ground. You can use butt kicks to build the resilience you’ll need to try some of the more high-intensity jumping exercises!

Step up with knee raise
The step up with knee raise exercise requires a solid surface, such as a box, step, or a sturdy chair for stepping up onto. Get creative and find ways to challenge yourself with what you already have available at home like a chair, staircase, or milk crate.

Box jump
Box jumps are great for raising your heart rate and building power through your legs! This exercise will strengthen your lower body, including glutes, quads, calves and hamstrings. Box jumps require a safe and solid surface to jump onto — such as a plyometric box, bench or step. If you do not have a sturdy surface for box jumps, broad jumps are a great no-equipment alternative. With broad jumps, you’ll jump along the ground instead of up onto a box.
